Moss art is original artwork that uses moss, lichen, leaf-like botanical textures, natural materials, and/or mixed media as part of the visual, sculptural, or storytelling language of the work. The Association of Moss Artists is especially interested in moss art as a fine art medium — work that can hold story, memory, place, emotion, symbolism, and artistic intent.

Yes. Sponsorship opportunities are being developed for businesses, organizations, and individuals who want to support arts education, creative entrepreneurship, and the growth of an emerging fine art field. Sponsors may receive visibility through event materials, website recognition, exhibit signage, reception opportunities, and founding supporter recognition.

Yes. The exhibit is expected to include a curated online element so artists, collectors, and supporters beyond Columbia, South Carolina can engage with the work. The online component may include selected artwork images, artist information, public voting, and other digital features as the exhibit plan is finalized.

The exhibit is expected to include a People’s Choice vote, and there may also be a juried prize or juror-selected recognition depending on final planning, partnerships, and sponsorship support.

The Association of Moss Artists was founded by Sekelle Nathan, a South Carolina-based moss artist and the artist behind J.O.A.T. Artworks / Decor Appeal. Sekelle is building the Association as a platform for the benefit of moss artists and the broader arts community, with a focus on exhibitions, education, business development, mentorship, and advancing moss as a fine art medium.
